Thunder Valley Casino Resort, one of the busiest Vegas-style properties in the Sacramento area of California, will begin construction of a $100 million expansion on Tuesday, March 15.

Hotels and casino resorts plan to build a spacious indoor entertainment center that will host all styles and types of performances when it opens in late 2022.

The new facility will be located right next to the property’s casino. The entertainment center will be called The Venue at Thunder Valley with more than 5,000 seats.

The owner of the game complex, the United Auburn Indian community, will host Tuesday’s groundbreaking ceremony. The new indoor facility will replace the building’s temporary amphitheater, where Thunder Valley’s traditional outdoor concert series have been held annually since 2010. It is still unclear whether the series will be held this summer.

Tribal spokesman Doug Elmetz told local media on Friday that they were already discussing with a number of performers about the possibility of appearing on The Venue when it opens for the event. Stevie Wonder, Sammy Hagar, and Rod Stewart were just a handful of artists the tribe had contact with.

Mr. Elmetz also mentioned that the new facility could be used not only for comedy shows but also for sporting events such as boxing matches.
